Artist Statement
The art I create is a reflection of my lifelong love of all things outdoors including the forests, water and trails of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. My artistic goal is to express this love for others to enjoy. Expressing what I see through printmaking allows me to pay homage to all that nature visually provides us. I am a printmaker that loves exploring a variety of techniques. Starting out with simple one color woodblocks and linocuts has expanded into expressing myself through color. Hand coloring prints using gouache and acrylics allows me to explore how light and nature combine to create beauty. I am constantly exploring other methods and mediums as a way to express and share my visual experiences with others. My career as a teacher has given me the passion for lifelong learning. My goal as an artist is to explore, through instruction and experience, the different paths I can take as a printmaker
