Carmella Perotti|  Stained Glass

Picture
Artist Statement

My first love is botanical illustration. I was fortunate to study at the Morton Arboretum in Lysle, Illinois. It was a wonderful experience. Days filled with botany and iIllustration lessons in a gorgeous arboretum…what could be better! Knowing how much I love to draw, I found that a degree in Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) would be a great way to make a living while loving your job.

I learned the craft of stained glass in Illinois, before I moved to the UP. My botanical background lets me incorporate my favorite wildflowers into my glass work. It’s wonderful to live where wildflowers are so abundant.

My CADD background gives me the ability to illustrate local landmarks. These things could never be cut out by hand. I have illustrated about half of the lighthouses in the UP, and some landmarks also, such as Bay Furnace in Christmas Michigan.
