Here's a recent Facebook posting by Zero Degrees Artist Christy Budnick. We're proud to have her here and amazed at her work!
"In Their Own World" shows two sandhill cranes engaged in their bonding dance. The image is 7 x 7", framed size is 17 x 17": full frame/mat/fillet gold frame and museum glass, the very best glass there is: UV filtering, anti-reflective (It virtually disappears on the piece and at $0.25 per square inch a substantial investment!). Price: $250.
It's an interesting story... There are really three reasons:
1. When the Gallery began in 2010 none of the member artists had art degrees! Zero!
2. We live, work and sell our art in a cold part of the world where it's often zero degrees. Zero!
3. There's a popular idea that all living things in the world are separated by no more than six degrees. Communications, travel and friendships have brought us closer together than ever before, so to speak just six steps or less from every other person. Well, those of us who live here know that in our relationships it's different here: There are ZERO DEGREES OF SEPARATION BETWEEN US! Zero!
Art by Michele Tuccini and JoAnn Deuel Shelby has been accepted into the Northwest Michigan Regional Juried Exhibition at the Dennos Museum February 3 to May 5, 2019. A Reception begins the show on February 2 , 6-8 pm. Look for more details about the Dennos Museum on their website at www.dennosmuseum.org. Congratulations, Artists!
Through November and December we have been using our new "Square Point of Sale" system with customers as they check out and it is proving to be fast and efficient! All we have to do is click on the artist's name and item, put in the price if it's not already specified, and we are ready to take your credit card, check, gift certificate or cash. You can sign for your credit card with your finger (That's the modern way, it seems...) and it will print out a receipt with full details, if you want it. After November's trial when we also doubled up our records by using our old paper system, December has proved effective and it is all set as we start the new year. Unseen to you it also does a lot to help us, like calculating sales tax, credit card costs, artists' sales totals, and change for cash sales. This all helps us to better serve you! Come in soon.
Between now and the end of April some of our artists will donate all or part of your purchase to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Marquette and Alger Counties! Look for the art involved when you are at the gallery. This is an exciting opportunity for our artists, customers and this important community program for kids.
